A peek into Mumu’s bookshelf

In my ongoing quest to convince others that engineers are people too, I thought I’d share a few books from my queue. Work is always full of robots and computers, so my reading list usually skews away from “technical” topics. Don’t worry, we’ll be back with plenty of science-y goodness. But today, let’s take a dive into my literary loves!

Just finished: The Nightingale, by Kristin Hannah, is the story of two sisters in WWII France, who each play a part in the French underground. No summary can do this book justice. Grab your tissue box. I was crying like a baby for the entire last chapter.

Halfway through: The Boys in the Boat, by Daniel James Brown, is a non-fiction account of nine men from the University of Washington’s crew team who competed in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. So far so good!

Next up: A Spool of Blue Thread, by Anne Tyler, is a sprawling family saga, and supposedly Tyler’s last novel. Excited to sit on my balcony with a cup of coffee and get lost in the storytelling.
