Read me: A look at Lindsay’s bookshelf

Not to be outdone by Mumu, I thought it might be fun to share the things that I’ve been reading. I like to try to mix in a few non-fiction books into my mostly fiction book list but sometimes, it’s just so hard to resist a good spy thriller.  So, here we go:

Just finished: The Magician’s Lie by Greer Macallister is billed as Water for Elephants meets The Night Circus in which the country’s most notorious female illusionist stands accused of her husband’s murder―and she has only one night to convince a small-town policeman of her innocence. I enjoyed the read although the ending lacked a little punch. If you haven’t read The Night Circus, pick that up first but this is a fun second.

doomsday

Reading now: Doomsday Book by Connie Willis is a historical fiction novel bookended by science fiction and time travel. I fell in love with Willis’ time-travel premise with To Say Nothing of the Dog and this is actually the first book in the sort of series. More famous in the series are Blackout and All Clear which take place during The Blitz in WWII London.

dark places

Next up: This is a tough call, and subject to change, but I’m thinking Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. This sounds almost as warped as Gone Girl with a hint of Capote’s In Cold Blood.

If you really want to keep tabs on what I’m reading, you can find/follow me on Goodreads.
